The Public Affairs Committee report on e-Borders found
passports left unchecked despite the government's pledge. It found no checks are
made from the Republic of Ireland by land or sea. The Committee appears to
overlook the fact there are often no checks from Ireland at airports either.
This is caused neither by EU membership or the Common Travel Area, but the
Ireland Act 1949 - and the Committee seems to have overlooked that too.
