What's your "h number"...?

My sincere thanks to Jo Wolff for his post on the Leiter Reports about a new way of doing metrics: the "h number" (or Hirsch number). Jo explains: "A scientist has index h if h of his Np papers have at least h citations each, and the other (Np - h) papers have at most h citations each."

You can download the programme here. It is certainly interesting stuff, although I remain highly sceptical about the use of metrics for research assessment of work in philosophy.
